ASLM is recruiting one Lab-Corps fellow for a short-term fellowship (ending 31 August 2017) to work in Francistown. Please note that the fellowship may be extended or terminated prior to 31 August as needed.

About the ASLM Fellowship Program:

Achieving the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets and the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) goal for an AIDS-Free Generation will require innovative approaches that ensure access to critical laboratory services that are required for the effective diagnosis, treatment and management of HIV.

To support these important goals, the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) is pleased to announce an open short-term recruitment for a Laboratory Fellow to support the ASLM Lab-Corps Fellowship Program in Botswana.

ASLM established the ASLM Lab-Corps Fellowship Program in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and PEPFAR to increase the capacity of young laboratory professionals to support these important goals, including increased access to viral load testing in PEPFAR-supported countries through activities such as:

- Providing training for laboratory professionals on HIV-1 viral load testing technologies.
- Building skills for evaluating the use of laboratory tools such as the Cepheid Xpert Diagnostic Platform to support viral load testing.
- Providing opportunities for the Lab Corps Fellows to gain practice and build expertise evaluating HIV viral load laboratory platforms to identify possible treatment failure among patients who are on antiretroviral treatment (ART).
- Training to familiarize and institutionalize the understanding of HIV-1 viral load testing technologies, their significance to the ART program, and testing research protocols
