Dr. Ethel M. Kamuti (MD, MBA), an early-stage investigator at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), had the unique opportunity to meet with Dr. Elizabeth Allen, her Course Director for the Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research at the University of Oxford.
The meeting took place during the HVTN Southern African Regional Meeting, held from November 5–7, 2024, in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Kamuti was accompanied by her CIDRZ colleagues, Dr. Monde Muyoyeta (Chief Scientific Officer) and Dr. Katanekwa Njekwa (Early Stage Investigator).
The discussions explored collaborative opportunities between CIDRZ and The Global Health Network, which is in its nascent stage of establishment in Zambia. Key areas of focus included collaboration in malaria research programs, capacity-building initiatives, and engaging experienced CIDRZ researchers to tutor Oxford students. These plans draw inspiration from successful implementations in other countries.
