Call for proposals
Deadline for applications: 21 January 2017, 17:00 (CET)
Under this call, two commissioned review proposals will be selected for funding for a maximum total funding of US$ 50 000 per commissioned review, to be delivered 3 months after contract signature.

Objectives
The overall objective of this call is to support a landscape analysis to better identify the knowledge gaps in our understanding of the transmission patterns and ecology of the mosquitoes vectors of the ZIKV. Specifically, this analysis will be done through commissioned reviews that will investigate our current knowledge on the following topics:
Review of the natural history of the ZIKV with sylvatic mosquito vectors, potential host species (animals) and transmission patterns under natural conditions. This analysis will be completed by a review of vector competence studies on mosquitoes for ZIKV. The commissioned review should conclude with a hypothesis on endemicity process and recommendation of studies for species of interest.
Review of mosquito species, ecology and feeding patterns for species found positive for ZIKV in the current epidemic context. This analysis should be completed with a review of entomological indicators available according to the mosquito species to survey the ZIKV transmission in rural and urban settings.
Eligibility criteria
Institutions and/or individual consultants are invited to submit collaborative proposals where:
Two to more institutions and/or consultants are part of the proposal.Academic institutions and/or health services and/or individual consultants holding a regular position are included.Institutions/consultants have a background in at least one of the following topics on emerging vector-borne diseases: surveillance, research, medical entomology, vector control. The leading institution/consultant is based in a country affected by ZIKV.
Selection process
Only two proposals will be selected for funding, for a maximum total funding of US$ 50 000. The proposal will be selected following an open competitive call for applications. The selection of projects for funding under this call will be conducted independently by an ad-hoc committee established by TDR. The committee will review and evaluate the proposals submitted based on scientific background of institutions/consultants included in the consortium, relevance to the call and feasibility.
