
Gabriela Piriz Etcheverry
About: I graduated as a General Medical practitioner in 2002 and as a Gynechologist in 2006 from the Universidad de la República (University of the Republic of Uruguay). I work as a gynechologist in public and private health care services since I obtained my post-graduate degree. I specialized in Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. I have been a Gynechology Professor at the University since 2007. In 2011 I took office as head of sexual and reproductive services in the Public Health Care sector. This position involves: development, improvement, assessment. advice and staff training in different sexual and reproductive programs. In 2014 I became a trainer of trainers from UNFPA and Reprolatina Organization in Family Planning, Contraceptive Methods and Adolescents sexual care, in Panama. In the same year I was the Uruguayan representative speaker at the Global Consultation Female Condom in Zambia, Africa. At the moment I'm taking a masters degree in Gender and Public Policies with the Latinoamerican Federation of Social Sciences (FLACSO). As a researcher, I studding accessibility of legal abortion in Uruguay, legal abortion therapeutical path, sub-dermic implants acceptance and barriers in Female Condom use.
