About: I currently am a principal investigator at the Gregorio Marañon Institute for Health Research (IiSGM). Upon obtaining a PhD degree from the University Aix-Marseille, France, in 2002 to study HIV viral latency mechanisms in human cells, I was enrolled as a Postdoctoral Assistant, and later as Assistant Professor, at the Geneva University Hospitals in Switzerland. There, I worked on primary human dendritic cells (DC) and demonstrated that the primary human DC can control HIV replication via a cellular restriction mechanism. I develop a project on the generation of genetically modified Treg with Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR). The aim is to create CAR-Treg able to fight hyperactivation in COVID-19 patients that suffer a cytokines storm.
