About: Dr. Ngum Lesley Ngum is a dedicated researcher and academic with expertise in molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases, focusing primarily on malaria. With a robust commitment to evidence-based research and practice, Dr. Ngum bridges the gap between researchers, policymakers, and end-users of research to promote impactful, data-driven healthcare solutions. He is passionate about advancing healthcare in Africa by integrating individual clinical expertise with cutting-edge scientific evidence. Dr. Ngum earned his PhD in Clinical Biochemistry with a specialization in Molecular Biosciences from the University of Yaoundé I Cameroon. This accomplishment followed his MSc in Public Health Biotechnology and a BSc in Biochemistry, both from the same institution. Beyond these degrees, Dr. Ngum has pursued numerous professional certifications, enhancing his expertise in clinical research, quality management, and global health ethics, among others. Notable certifications include Clinical Research During Outbreaks (ISARIC/GHIDRG, 2024), Good Clinical Practice (NIDA CTN, 2023), Project and People management (Edx.org) and Research Ethics (TRREE/Hong Kong University, 2019). Currently, Dr. Ngum serves as a Researcher at the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plants Studies of the Ministry of Research and Scientific Innovation Cameroon and with the Molecular Diagnostics Research Group of the University of Yaoundé 1, where he contributes to groundbreaking studies on infectious diseases. He also holds a field supervision role for the Perennial Malaria Chemoprevention Evaluation Impact Project in Cameroon and Project Officer with ALERRT (African Coalition for Epidemics Response Research and Training) Cameroon chapter. As an educator, he lectures in Public Health, Health System Management, Ethics and medical Deontology and related courses at Holy Infant University Institute and formerly taught at Siantou University Institute.
