Choene Mandy Railo
About: I am a vibrant, optimistic, and resilient individual with a deep passion for the biomanufacturing industry and the clinical trials field. My unwavering enthusiasm stems from my commitment to advancing therapeutic solutions to today's health challenges through innovation. My honours project was focused on the mutations in the pre-S1/S2 region of patients with occult HBV infection. This experience not only honed my research skills but also exposed me to the critical need for innovation in testing equipment and treatment strategies. It became evident that there is a significant gap waiting to be filled in this ever-evolving field. I had the privilege of participating in the CSSFF-SAMRC biopharmaceutical manufacturing studentship, an invaluable experience that shaped my understanding of the industry. The programme's primary goal was to cultivate a skilled workforce for independent vaccine research, development, and manufacture in Africa. The training was a hands-on experience, encompassing essential laboratory techniques and soft skills crucial in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. It also delved into key process techniques utilised in upstream and downstream biopharmaceutical manufacturing. I am excited to channel my passion, knowledge, and hands-on experience into contributing to the dynamic world of biomanufacturing and clinical trials. As I continue to explore opportunities and seek collaborations, I'm driven by the belief that together we can drive innovation and make a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry for our people.
